David M. Schuster, MD

Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Director
Dr. Schuster is an affiliate faculty member for CSIC. He is a Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, and is the Director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. He is also a Georgia Research Alliance Distinguished Scientist. He received his MD from Albany Medical College of Union University, completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Tufts New England Medical Center, and his Nuclear Radiology fellowship at Emory University. He is board certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and specializes in molecular medicine and integrative imaging. Dr. Schuster’s research focuses on projects involving molecular and nuclear imaging, with a special emphasis on positron emission tomography imaging. He uses novel radiotracers for cancer diagnosis and staging, especially the use of amino acid transport imaging for oncologic applications. He is the principal investigator on multiple NIH studies and other sponsored research grants. Dr. Schuster is widely published and has lectured nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of the Society of Nuclear Medicine Tetalman Award and is also known for his co-authorship of the book A Clinicians Guide to Nuclear Medicine.
