Design

Reach out for free consultations on all aspects of the image centered experimental process. Happy to talk about current and future technology for grant writing stages, in addition to experimental design no matter when you are in the process. If you've taken the data we can help with designing analyses, but recommend that the earlier you contact the more we can assist with optimizing outcomes.

Microscopy

The ICI supports 21 microscopes and 5 high-speed analysis workstations in approximately 3000 sq. ft of space, ranging from basic widefield setups to commercial confocal, spinning disk, multiphoton, super-resolution, and light sheet, with more than half equipped with live cell environmental control.

Data Analysis

Both pre- and post-acquisition, we advise, assist, and train all relevant quantitative analyses of required from your data. Using Fiji, CellProfiler or ilastik (open source) and our Imaris 3D/4D software packages, plus custom analysis via Python or Matlab, we can help deliver all levels of analysis and striking visualizations. Five high powered workstations across campus host a range of commercial and open source software.

Subsidy policies

Winship

The Winship-subsidized rate is provided to Winship members for cancer-relevant projects. This is subject to change at any time during the year based on availability of funds. Changes will be communicated to users at the time of billing.

Pediatrics

  • The Pediatric Research Alliance, Research Operations Council (ROC), establishes the amount of subsidy offered to child health researchers. As of 1/1/20, it is set at a base 40% subsidy off the published hourly rates.* This is subject to change at any time during the year based on availability of funds. Changes will be communicated to users at the time of billing.
  • All Emory University Department of Pediatrics investigators will automatically receive the pediatric subsidy on any ICI equipment used at any location.
  • Other child health researchers not in Emory Department of Pediatrics using ICI equipment may request pediatric subsidy on ICI equipment.
    • Non Department of Pediatrics investigators may request this pediatrics subsidy per funded project.
    • To request this subsidy, send an email to Clovis Sarmiento, MD and Stacy Heilman, PhD with the project title, funding source, ICI equipment to be used, billing account number, and a brief (2-4 sentence) justification for how the scope of work is child health related.
    • If approved, the subsidy will be applied only to pre-approved pediatric specific research projects and not to the investigator’s entire portfolio of research (unless all of the investigator’s research is approved as child health related).
  • Each investigator may receive up to, but not exceeding, $3,000 in pediatric subsidies each calendar year. All projects and users are monitored via PPMS and are notified when they are approaching the maximum subsidy, and when it has been reached.

*Total subsidy percentage will vary for users with additional affiliations.
