Rising rates of antimicrobial resistance (AR) is a growing concern in animals in addition to humans. Little is known about AR in companion animals. Over 30% of US households contain a pet, who live in close proximity to humans; their role in resistant bacterial infections may be a critical aspect of infection control. With the ICMC, Emory investigators examined rates of MDR bacterial stool colonization in humans and pets.
