Dr. Gopinath received his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Florida. Afterwards, he was a faculty member at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He joined Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences in 2011. In these positions Dr. Gopinath has focused on magnetic resonance neuroimaging of brain pathologies. In addition, he has studied brain function and connectivity. Along with developing novel fMRI biomarkers for various pathologies, he has analyzed the neurophysiological basis of fMRI imaging using translational neuroimaging with nonhuman primate and rodent models. Dr. Gopinath is also well versed in different MRI techniques including diffusion tensor imaging, arterial spin labeling and relaxometry. He has ongoing collaborations with Neurology, Pharmacology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, and Biostatistics researchers at Emory University and other institutions.
