The Translational Neuroscience Core (TNC), one of the Emory Integrated Core Facilities (EICF), is supported by the Department of Neurosurgery and the Emory University School of Medicine. The TNC supports investigators interested in translation of new therapies at an accelerated pace, providing the necessary tools for clinical translation. Please contact TNC to discuss your experimental needs.

Our team has conducted 3 preclinical large animal studies to address safety and dosing optimization of neural stem cell transplantation into the spinal cord.  This particular work resulted in the development of techniques and devices that are currently being applied in human stem cell Phases I and II trials for the treatment of ALS in United States (here at Emory and at the University of Michigan) and in Italy

The TNC is a new cross-disciplinary scientific core that supports the advancement of translational research in neuroscience. We provide investigators and translational programs with the following core services:

  • Specialized neurosurgical instrumentation
  • Technical assistance and experimental design
  • Surgical execution in large animal models
  • From pilot experiments to preclinical testing
