Services We Provide

The Emory Glycomics and Molecular Interactions Core (EGMIC) provides researchers access to the latest functional glycomics and molecular interactions methods and technologies. The EGMIC effectively implements its critical technologies, provides consultations, expert training, and support for all systems. The EGMIC uses glycan microarrays to understand glycans’ structure-function relationships through the study of protein-glycan interactions. The core team also characterizes molecular interactions on several different platforms. Ion mobility mass spectrometry is used to resolve structural isomers, peptide cross-links, post-translational modifications and characterize protein shape and protein-protein interactions. Quantitative mass spectrometry can replace Western blots and ELISA with the method of the year as voted by Nature. Targeted HPLC-QQQ mass spectrometry allows multiplexed measurement of 100’s of targets and without requiring antibodies. Services offered include: • Functional glycomics analysis • Custom microarray printing • Protein-glycan, protein-protein, or protein-small molecule interaction analysis - Surface plasmon resonance - Isothermal titration calorimetry • Glycomic analysis by mass spectrometry • Intact protein mass spectrometry analysis (Native and denatured) • Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange mass spectrometry • Bottom-up characterization of recombinant proteins and synthetic peptides. • Ion mobility mass spectrometry of proteins, peptides and small molecules. • Quantitative mass spectrometry.

Instruments Resources

EGMIC staff maintain the instruments, and we react quickly to minimize instrument down time and make ease of access, for many researchers who utilize our resources. We provide initial consultation to discuss the feasibility of your projects.  We also customize training protocol targeting your specific experimental aims, and then you can use those systems unassisted. Available instruments include Biacore X100, MicroCal Auto-iTC200, Agilent 6546 IM-Q-TOF, Agilent 6545 XT LC/Q-TOF, Agilent 6495c LC/QqQ, and InnoScan AL1100 fluorescence microarray slide scanner.

Please see Grant Materials for detailed description of our instruments.
