Training Opportunities

DAR Orientation CE

In accordance with the IACUC Education and Training policy and The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, DAR offers training to fulfill the continuing education requirement for research personnel. This training will include updates on procedures, policies and services that are relevant to the animal user. The options for completing this training are:

  1. A DAR Training Coordinator can present the lecture to an individual lab or department. Email the training department at dartrn@emory.edu to schedule a time that is convenient for your group.

  2. An online version is available via ELMS. To sign up, please enroll via ELMS (elmprod9.emory.edu) using course code 265008. For details on how to register, please see below for instructions.

Registering for DAR Training Courses

DAR is now accepting registration for the following courses through the Emory Learning Management System (ELMS):

  • DAR SOM Orientation (In-person lecture, course code 265000)
  • DAR SOM Aseptic Survival Surgery in Rodents, Birds, or Aquatics (In-person workshop, course code 265020)
  • DAR SOM Animal Biohazard Containment Level 2 Training (In-person lecture, course code 265040)
  • DAR SOM Chemical Safety for Rodent Users (In-person lecture, course code 265030)
  • DAR SOM Chemical Safety for Rabbit Users (In-person lecture, course code 265035)
  • DAR SOM CO2 Euthanasia at Whitehead (In-person workshop, course code 265004)
  • DAR SOM Weaning of Rodents (Online, course code 265050)
  • DAR SOM Researcher Mouse Handling & Techniques Workshop (In-person workshop, course code 265010)
  • DAR SOM Orientation CE (Online, course code 265008)


To register for a course:

  1. Log into the Emory Learning Management System (ELMS) at https://elmprod9.emory.edu using your Emory User ID and password.

  2. Click on "Find Learning."

  3. In the “Search by keyword” field, enter the applicable course code and click the small arrow icon to the right of the text box (or hit “Enter.”)

  4. Select “Enroll” next to the date you wish to take the class.

  5. Select “Submit Enrollment.”

If you are unable to take the course at the times that it is offered, please contact the DAR Training group at dartrn@emory.edu to schedule an alternate date.
