Rodent Surgery Suites


DAR managed Rodent Surgery Suites are available to researchers in most DAR rodent facilities for a small fee. Rooms are equipped with essential anesthesia equipment including:

  • Isoflurane vaporizer and oxygen
  • Adjustable heated surgery and recovery surfaces
  • Hot bead sterilizer
  • Rodent scale
  • Rodent heart rate and oxygen saturation monitor
  • Disposables (non-sterile drape, charcoal canisters, heat pad covers)

Users are responsible for providing drugs (e.g., isoflurane, meloxicam) and instruments.

Room use is charged at an hourly rate of $8.00/hr, rounded up to the nearest hour.

Rooms must be booked in advance using the FMS Resource Scheduler at https://emory.resourcescheduler.net/.  Instructions for using the calendar are posted below.  Please note that an accurate Speedtype is required for all requests. 

>> WBRB G28 users- there is a separate calendar for surgery and for imaging. Please book accordingly.

Booking the Rodent Surgery Suite Calendar on FMS

  1. Go to https://emory.resourcescheduler.net/

  2. On the left side of the screen, click the arrow next to “Div of Animal Resources"



  3. Next click the arrow next to the building where the suite that you will be using is.

  4. Click the arrow next to the floor/level the room is on.

  5. Next, click the room that you would like to book. This will bring up the calendar.

  6. Use the arrows on the left and view options on the right to get to the date you would like to book.

  7. Click anywhere on the calendar to open the booking.

  8. Your name should auto populate in “Reservation Title” .

  9. Next, adjust the times by clicking the arrows.

  10. Then fill in the “Speedtype”, “PI Name”, “Protocol Number”, “User contact Number” (best number to reach you at), and “User Email”.

  11. Finally, click “Submit”. You will receive an email confirmation.
