Report Sick Animal

How to Obtain Veterinary Care

The following procedures should be used to obtain:

  1. Veterinary care for ill or injured animals.
  2. Diagnostic necropsies for animals that die or become ill unexpectedly.

Normal Business Hours

Call the DAR Office, 404.727.3248 and tell the secretary that you would like to report a medical case. If it is a life-threatening emergency, please inform the secretary at this time and the veterinary staff will be contacted immediately. Otherwise, the secretary will ask questions to obtain relevant information for the medical chart and then contact the appropriate veterinarian or veterinary technician on the veterinary staff. If you ask to speak with a specific veterinarian, this may result in veterinary care delays as that person may be off-site or committed to another activity.

Evenings, Weekends & Holidays

Contact the Emory Police Department dispatcher 404.727.6111, give them your name and phone number and request that they contact the duty veterinarian. The police will beep the duty veterinarian who will contact you.

When reporting a medical case, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  1. Investigator
  2. Department
  3. Phone Number
  4. Office or Lab Phone Number
  5. Animal Species
  6. Animal Strain, Breed or Genotype
  7. Animal Identification
  8. Animal Housing Site
